About Stone Engineering
Stone Engineering Incorporated is licensed to provide professional engineering services throughout North Carolina, and has provided forensic mechanical engineering and diagnostic services to the legal, insurance and industrial communities since 1999. Services provided include forensic analysis of marine, automotive, residential and industrial structures, systems and components following accident, injury, property loss or material failure in support of determination of cause.
The principal engineer, Stephen E. Stone, P.E., is licensed to practice in North Carolina. He has more than 35 years’ experience encompassing design, test, production, maintenance and forensic reconstruction and analysis of complex mechanical systems and components. He has completed more than one thousand forensic investigations, ranging from accident reconstruction of military aircraft propulsion systems and components to consumer product liability investigations, and is accustomed to utilizing innovative technology and investigative techniques to ensure solutions are obtained in the most cost effective and timely manner.
Mr. Stone is a 1984 graduate of Virginia Tech, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is a USCG Licensed Master of Self-Propelled Vessels Not Including Auxiliary Sail of Less Than 100 Gross Registered Tons Upon Near Coastal Waters. He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and a Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators, International. He is also a Level III trained Infrared Thermographer. He has extensive experience in communicating complex engineering issues and providing persuasive technical argument to broad and diverse audiences.
